Robinhood has taken a significant step toward democratizing access to private markets by filing with the SEC to launch Robinhood Ventures Fund I. The closed-end fund, set to trade on the NYSE, aims to provide retail investors with exposure to pre-IPO companies—a privilege historically reserved for institutions and high-net-worth individuals.

The fund WOULD invest in a curated selection of private companies across industries, holding positions through their public debuts and beyond. This move follows Robinhood's earlier foray into private equity tokens in the EU, though that initiative faced pushback from firms like OpenAI.

Shares will become available through participating brokerages if regulators approve the filing. The submission marks Robinhood's latest attempt to bridge the gap between Main Street and Wall Street, potentially reshaping how everyday investors participate in venture capital.
